"Zoe" isn't really having the best day. As if waking up in a frighteningly broken elevator isn't bad enough, she's waking up with her mind empty. Her memories are gone; all the important ones anyone. Her name, her job, her family, her hopes and dreams have vanished and left a blank slate behind. But somehow, she can still remember the most random facts about obscure foliage, not as though that helps.
By a strange twist of fate, she reconnects with Noah, the empathetic and very handsome paramedic that found her on her worst day and he offers to care for her - she can't even remember where she lives, after all. Together, they try and piece together "Zoes" new life and fill in with colour, with new hobbies and excitement. But as the final peices fall into place she finds the life she left behind wasn't colourful at all - fate has offered her a second chance but does she know how to take it?
Jo Watson is royalty when it comes to feel-good fiction that breaks and mends your heart in the best of ways - and this is no exception. A beautiful story about fate, about second and third chances and about love in it's many forms.
This was a laugh-a-minute journey of self-discovery that was far too easy to read in one sitting. Sometimes bordering on the absurd, I absolutely loved watching Zoe and Noah get into escalating antics trying to find new things to fall in love with.
Of course, it wouldn't be the same without some exceptionally steamy and sickeningly sweet romance but the part that lingers after you've turned the last page is the beauty of someone learning over again how to love themselves and what that really means.
And my favourite part? The brilliant cameos from some beloved and not-so-loved characters from the Watson universe - tying everything together with a perfect finish.
