BOOK TOUR x @Random Things Tours - Into The Lake by L.K. Chapman

When Natalie receives an invite to her school reunion, it's the first time she's not wanted to go a party. These people don't know her, not anymore and since the accident that took away her modelling career, she doesn't really want to get to know them either. But she finds it's not too bad after all, despite having no family and no job to brag about, and then she meets Josh.

Josh didn't really want to go either, but his best friend convinced him it wouldn't be as awful as he imagined. He didn't really want to spend the night answering awkward questions about the troubled past he's dragging around ... but then he see's Natalie. A beautiful woman who he hardly spoke to in school and that's it for him - they fall for each other almost instantly.

It's a perfect romance, until Natalie starts getting messages on her vlog - telling her that Josh is a murderer. That he killed Mikayla when they were in school. That he drowned her in the lake.  That nobody would ever love her.

And as the rumours start to take over their whole life, she knows she needs the truth. Is her new love really a killer? Who is trying to pin this on him? She needs to find out what happened at the lake once and for all, and she'll do anything to get to the bottom of it.

"Everyone can see the truth but you ... maybe he'll kill you next."

Intense, twisty and devilishly dark, Into The Lake is a mystery that really keeps you guessing. Suspicion was on everyone, leaving the reader not knowing who to trust - Natalie is so sure Josh wasn't guilty, but we are left to watch on in horror as the story plays it itself out.

Natalie and Josh - they definitely had chemistry and passion. The type of relationship that if my friend got into I'd slap them in the face and scream 'You don't even know him!'. They toed the line between love and obsession - and we know how dangerous both of those can be to the wrong person. I definitely loved Natalie, she was a strong character with a distinct voice and her determination leaped out through the pages. I found it a little harder to connect with Josh, for some reason - I wanted him to fight for the truth like Natalie was doing,

A large portion of this book is spent in the past - leading us through Joshs troubled past. His childhood, his family, the darkness that's followed him like a dark cloud since he was a kid. And most importantly - to the day Mikayla was found dead in the lake. We were given information in tiny morsels at a time, waiting impatiently for something to click, for another piece of the puzzle. Sometimes I felt there was a little bit too much filler and not enough drama ... but overall this was a very easy read despite the heavy subject matter.

If you're looking for a thrilling story with romance, betrayal and a web of lies going back years, look no further.

REVIEW: Live, Laugh, Lesbian by Helen Scott

Genre: Non-Fiction | Memoir | LGTBQ+  Release Date: 19th October 2023 Publisher: Jessica Kingsley Part memoir, part guide, part conversation and all queer joy — Live, Laugh, Lesbian is a brilliantly warm and friendly journey into the queer experience, not only from the author but from plenty of other lesbian, queer, bisexual and pansexual contributors who bring a unique viewpoint and voice and also show a beautiful diverse, intersectional scope of the queer spectrum and welcomes in queer people and allies of any kind to come feel the love. The book is very conversational, talking to the reader in a fun, friendly way — at times I rolled my eyes as the use of “famalam” but as a previous patron of Colours and Chicagos I’m not in a position to judge the Essex-isms. It’s full of anecdotes and observations that were witty and relatable as well as talking is through the more difficult side of queerness like dealing with workplace discrimination, religious trauma and coming out to family...

BOOK TOUR STOP x RANDOM THINGS TOURS: Thirty Days of Darkness by Jenny Lund Madsen

" This town has secrets that are best left alone." Author Hannah is a success, on paper at least. She's receiving critical acclaim and praise worldwide and her work is regarded as some of the best. She writes literature, not just books. But the reality is, outside of the literary circles nobody actually reads her work.
