BOOK TOUR STOP x Random Things Tours - King of Battle and Blood by Scarlett St Clair

Their union is his revenge.

Isolde de Lara considers her wedding day to be her death day. To end a
years-long war, she is to marry vampire king Adrian Aleksandr Vasiliev, and kill him.

But her assassination attempt is thwarted, and Adrian threatens that if Isolde tries kill him again, he will raise her as the undead. Faced with the possibility of becoming the thing she hates most, Isolde seeks other ways to defy him and survive the brutal vampire court.
Except it isn't the court she fears most―it's Adrian.

Despite their undeniable chemistry, she wonders why the king―fierce, savage, merciless―chose her as consort. . .

The answer will shatter her world.

King of Battle and Blood is a vivid, dark fantasy full of gore, sex and mystery. A sexy, steamy tale full of bloody action and rich world building - a terrifying world with its own rules, its own Gods and its own problems that are ready to explode into chaos.

From the blurb, I definitely expected this to be a mostly fantasy adventure, with some erotic elements but it was definitely first and foremost erotic fiction with some fantasy elements which was a little frustrating for me as a reader as I don't actually like primarily erotic fiction.

There was definitely a lot of brilliant world building but even some of the most important exposition took place during sex scenes which definitely wasn't for me as it took away from the entire universe being created while our characters are busy in the bedroom.

Their relationship jumped from complete, total hatred to lust and romance with the turn of a page, I couldn't really find the point their relationship changed or any reason it would have - but the characters themselves were interesting and complex. I had serious 'not like other girls' vibes from Isolde, but then she was also strong and badass at other times. And as for Adrian - he was one of those complex mysteries that you definitely shouldn't trust but feel compelled to for some reason.

That being said, I think this kind of story will definitely be a hit among any readers who adore vampire romances and erotica and Scarlett nailed having an inclusive and diverse cast, something erotic fiction is usually so far behind on - so if you've read any of the Hades x Persephone saga, this one should definitely be next on your list.

"No one can prepare for monsters, princess."

REVIEW: Live, Laugh, Lesbian by Helen Scott

Genre: Non-Fiction | Memoir | LGTBQ+  Release Date: 19th October 2023 Publisher: Jessica Kingsley Part memoir, part guide, part conversation and all queer joy — Live, Laugh, Lesbian is a brilliantly warm and friendly journey into the queer experience, not only from the author but from plenty of other lesbian, queer, bisexual and pansexual contributors who bring a unique viewpoint and voice and also show a beautiful diverse, intersectional scope of the queer spectrum and welcomes in queer people and allies of any kind to come feel the love. The book is very conversational, talking to the reader in a fun, friendly way — at times I rolled my eyes as the use of “famalam” but as a previous patron of Colours and Chicagos I’m not in a position to judge the Essex-isms. It’s full of anecdotes and observations that were witty and relatable as well as talking is through the more difficult side of queerness like dealing with workplace discrimination, religious trauma and coming out to family...

BOOK TOUR STOP x RANDOM THINGS TOURS: Thirty Days of Darkness by Jenny Lund Madsen

" This town has secrets that are best left alone." Author Hannah is a success, on paper at least. She's receiving critical acclaim and praise worldwide and her work is regarded as some of the best. She writes literature, not just books. But the reality is, outside of the literary circles nobody actually reads her work. Desperate not to lose to him, her editor arranges for her to spend a month in a quiet, cold village in Iceland hoping that the solitude will spark inspiration.  But instead of writing a murder story - she's in one . Just before she arrives, the body of a young man is pulled from the icy waters and her search for ideas soon becomes a search for a killer. And if she's not careful, she might end up the...
