Henri knows he calculate any answer ne needs to achieve perfection. As an insurance mathematician, his life is is clear and simple, in black and white.
Until suddenly he finds himself lost in the grey. After inheriting YouMeFun, his brothers failing adventure park, he soon realises even his meticulous methods can't solve how much money the park owes to a criminal underworld didn't even know existed and aren't too friendly towards him. But then there's Laura, another pleasant problem. An eccentric artist who lives in the now, who is everything Henri isn't but he can't seem to stay away from.
So now, he has to not only figure out a solution for the biggest problem of his life, but accept that there isn't always a simple formula for falling in love.
This darkly absurd thriller is definitely something special. Full of sinister criminal plots juxtaposed against a background of flashing lights and giant bunnies. Full of quirk and ridiculousness, Tuomainen has a formula for dry humour that is unlike any other author I've ever read.
Excitedly fast-paced, we got to the action right away, creating characters that were instantly personable and became warmly familiar in no time at all. Henri was delightfully grey himself, teetering between being the hero and anti-hero depending which angle you're looking from. He was a perfectly imperfect main character, gritty and warm all at once.
Humour, love, crime, intrigue, and just the right amount of absurdity - this irreverent first instalment has it all and I can't wait to see where this goes next.
