Henri Koskinen, intrepid insurance mathematician and adventure-park entrepreneur, firmly believes in the power of common sense and order. That is until he moves in with painter Laura Helanto and her daughter...
As Henri realises he has inadvertently become part of a group of local dads, a competing adventure park is seeking to expand their operations, not always sticking to the law in the process...
Is it possible to combine the increasingly dangerous world of the adventure-park business with the unpredictability of life in a blended family? At first glance, the two appear to have only one thing in common: neither deals particularly well with a mounting body count.
In order to solve this seemingly impossible conundrum, Henri is forced to step far beyond the mathematical precision of his comfort zone … and the stakes have never been higher...
"I can't claim to be entirely at ease. I am an actuary, not a burglar."
Henri is back in the highly anticipated final episode of the Rabbit Factor trilogy and it is just as absurdly fun as ever.
The finale brings a lot of heart and love, with us finding Henri a very different man to the one we first discovered being a dad, a loving partner and becoming more confident in his abilities to run the park no matter what chaos is thrown his way. But of course, he is still a fabulous narrator; with that painfully logical, matter of fact voice even in the fact of danger and of course his trademark quirk and wit that blends genres and styles to create something utterly unique and so enjoyable.
It brings cinematic, exciting action and intense thrills, riotously funny and sharp humour and undeniably lovable characters in a fast-moving, high-energy story with burglary, ping-pong tournaments, adventure park hijinks, murders, parents evenings, corporate espionage and organised crime. It’s obvious why Tuomainen is hailed as one of the greats of modern literature and that is because everything can be summed up as just being more. More absurd, more adventurous, more clever and sharper.
My only problem is that I am so sad this trilogy is over because it was amazing.
